Before the Year Ends: The Good, Bad, and Ugly

WHAT'S GOOD

You might remember from my previous posts, where I bared our soul, shedding light upon my life with JJ and all the ups and downs we have been through together. Each journey we undertook was not merely a personal voyage but was shared in the hope of creating a ripple of empathy and understanding within our community and beyond. Well folks, as we stand at the precipice of a new year, I thought it would only fitting to take a nosedive into the whirlwind that was our year!

So, let's dive in, beginning with the proverbial silver lining - the Good.

I'm thrilled to report that love truly did conquer all this year as Ann and I tied the knot! Bringing our hearts closer in ways beyond comprehension. Yes, we finally managed to conquer that unspoken fear and unknowingness, embracing all that we are to become. But it wasn't just the wedding bells that chimed for us.

In parallel, we achieved huge strides on the professional front for JJ. We had him enrolled in myriad programs that encompassed a psychiatrist at Life Stream, his admission to Lake Hills Elem (a school with special provisions for special kids like JJ) situated in idyllic Howie-in-the-hills, and regular visits to Pediatrician Dr. Carlson, whose office at Lake Pediatrics in MT. Dora, FL became a frequent stop in our schedule. You can see my detailed reviews for all these places on our website: Autism Inspire Lifestyle.

The BAD

However, as we all know too well, life isn’t all roses and sunshine, and this year was no different. We faced some serious setbacks, hurdling obstacles one after the other.

We had to resort to having JJ Baker Acted to Life Streams multiple times, until the local law enforcement joined hands with Life Streams, advising us to avert the potential risk for JJ since he was non-verbal, and recommended Gainesville instead. At face value, it seemed like a viable solution but, unfortunately, was not feasible for us due to a myriad of reasons (I promise to expand upon in future posts).

The UGLY

Then there were times when life’s roller-coaster ride took an unpleasant plunge into the ugly and it was enough to take our breath away momentarily. As parents, it’s a heart-wrenching experience when you see your child face hardships.

This year, JJ turned 18 and graduated from Lake Hills. But, the officials suggested that we could delay his diploma collection, thereby allowing him to continue his education until the ripe ages of 21 or 22 years old. This pleasant news was quickly overshadowed when JJ was deemed too dangerous to attend school, leading to him getting partially expelled. I will delve deeper into the reasons behind these incidents in coming blog posts.

"Esther 4:14 - For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the Kingdom for such a time as this."

Life continues to remain a paradoxical puzzle, filled with perplexities. It's the unpredictability that keeps us agile, creatively navigating this labyrinth of experiences. And it's precisely this balance that fuels our journey to burst through clichés, embracing novelty while upholding clarity and convention.

Stay tuned folks! Let’s continue to wave our magic wand of optimism and face every upcoming challenge with the courage to tell our tale. After all, we're penning a unique narrative here, filled to the brim with eccentricities, quirks, and downright weirdness at times.

Through it all, we continue to find humor in odd places, keep our chins up, and march on. And somewhere between life’s convoluted syntax and grammar, we find the beauty in unpredictability. So here's to a new year of continuing our journey, filled with more original content, personal stories, and creative ideas!

Looking forward to sharing more of our unpredictable, humorous, and heartfelt journey with JJ and autism. Keep following for the latest updates, insights, and more...
