Finding Love and a New Home

Beginning a New Chapter in Life

My new relationship began rather quickly with Ann, and the pressure to leave Mom's house was critical. On top of this, we needed to find a two-bedroom apartment to take custody of my son, JJ. Time was of the essence, and we still needed to form another business and find a crew. But thankfully, just when we needed it the most, income tax came to the rescue!

Beginning a New Chapter in Life

With the help of my tax refund, we were able to find and make the deposit for a nice two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment. It was a huge relief to finally have a place of our own. we also had the opportunity to get my furniture out of storage and make our new place feel like home.

But the biggest change was being able to move out of Mom's place and take custody of JJ. It was a momentous occasion for both of us. Finally, we had the space and privacy we needed to build our new life together.

Not only did my tax refund provide us with a new home, but it also brought an unexpected bonus. My newfound love Ann became invaluable to me in many ways. She has a huge family, and I guess it would be fair to say that JJ and I had to meet and get to know the new family in our lives.

Meeting her family was a bit nerve-wracking at first, but they welcomed us with open arms. I quickly realized that having a big family meant having some sort of support system. Some were there for us every step of the way, offering advice, helping with JJ, and just being there for us.

The Testing Times

New beginnings, while exciting, aren't always smooth. It was as if we were sailing an uncharted sea, and after the initial calm came the storm. Our little world was shaken to its core when JJ's mental health required professional intervention. Some nights, I was forced to play the dual role of both Dad and Human Shield!

JJ's struggles had him land in "Life-stream" for three (3) days, a safe haven catering to people caught in the turbulent tempests of mental health crises.

Paddling Through the Chaos

Through this melee, Ann and I performed an incredible juggling act. We had to orchestrate appointments and pull together a support system for JJ, which included finding a pediatrician, a psychiatrist, and a school. It felt like we were building a castle in quicksand, all while emotionally and domestically grappling with Hurricane JJ.

Part Of A Whole New Family

Being a part of this new family has been an incredible experience. We've had ups and downs and passed milestones together. They've become like a second family to both JJ and me, and we're grateful for their love and support.

Looking back, I can't help but feel grateful for the timing of everything. If it weren't for my tax refund, I'm not sure how we would have managed to find a new home and take custody of JJ. It truly came right on time and made a significant difference in our lives.

So, while tax season may not be the most exciting time of the year, it can bring unexpected blessings. It's a reminder that sometimes when we're in need, help can come from unexpected sources. And in my case, it brought love, a new home, and a wonderful new family into our lives.

1 Cor. 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to handle it.
